Vegetarian? What’s That?

In my endless quest to locate veggie-friendly options, I’ve searched the web sites of many restaurants to find out what they have to say on the subject. Unfortunately, the following restaurants have nothing at all to say on the subject – the word, “vegetarian”, simply does not appear on their web site!
- Applebee’s (no surprise)
- Taco Bell (really!)
- Burger King (Mickey-D’s does…)
- Wendy’s (too bad!)
- Ruby Tuesday (yeah, whatever)
- Bertucci’s (a Massachusetts chain!)
- Starbucks (seriously!)
I guess I’ll eat somewhere else, then…

I really think this is a lack of education or information in their corporate infrastructure. I don’t think it’s mean spiritedness but ignorance about their customers and what being vegetarian/vegan is all about. For example, I emailed Atlanta Bread Company recently to find out what on their menu was vegan and what wasn’t.
On the list as being VEGAN was Honey Wheat Bread.
Um. I realize some vegans do eat honey for whatever reason suits them but it’s not vegan if you’re going by the true definition of the word.
That said, shame on Starbucks! You’d think a progressive company like them would have allergy information in their nutritional info, at the very least.
